Five U.S. Research Teams Receive Roche Grants

Five U.S. research teams are among 13 international teams recently named as winners of the Roche Organ Transplantation Research Foundation fourth grant awards competition.

The grants support research teams in their work to advance the science of solid organ transplantation.

"The trustees hope that the funds available through the foundation will permit transplantation researchers to develop new technologies and areas of interest, and will encourage researchers in other areas to study transplantation problems," said Philip Halloran, MD, chairman of the foundation's board and professor of medicine at the University of Alberta.

The Roche Group has committed to providing the foundation with about $16.6 million in funding for its first five years. This year's winners were selected from a field of 134 submissions.
