SangStat has introduced Transplant Rx.com, an online pharmacy dedicated to organ transplantation.
Designed as an extension of SangStat's Transplant Pharmacy, the new online store will provide transplant recipients, their families, and health care providers "with a place to conveniently purchase all of their medications and access a wealth of information and resources on transplantation, all online," SangStat said in a statement (www.sangstat.com/press/press_release99-25.html).
Online orders can be placed around-the-clock, and specialized transplant pharmacists will be available "to "ensure that prescriptions are accurately and safely filled and to provide personal counseling by phone or e-mail," SangStat said. An "Ask the Pharmacist" feature will allow prescribers to receive individual and personalized feedback from an expert, and prescribers will be notified by e-mail when their order has been received. Orders will be delivered to the recipient's home.
According to SangStat, the pharmacy will accept "a wide variety" of health care insurance and will provide eligible transplant patients with assistance from reimbursement specialists.
